Using a standard 2roller homebrew mill, I crushed each malt using four different gap settings. The gap settings were mm, mm, mm and mm, and I used a feeler gauge to confirm these gap setting between each milling. After milling, I performed a grain sieve test on the different malts and crushes, and recorded all of the results.

UPDATE I got my mill replaced by sending it back to Barley Crusher. They were slow to respond, but very helpful once I talked to them. I hooked the new mill up and I am having the same issues. I am pretty frustrated. The idle roller still will not turn properly. The only other thing I can think of is that it may be an alignment issue.

Go with the MM. You won't regret it. I bought the basic " 2roller mill with 1/2" shaft (to attach a pulley wheel). Damn thing's built like a tank and it chews through everything like the woodchipper in Fargo. And if you're considering the Barley Crusher, you might want to have a look at this thread.

Two major advantages you might not be realizing: 1) Cost, if buying in bulk the Mill pays for itself quickly. 2) Having base malts in bulk and a smattering of specialty malts lets you brew when the mood strikes (as opposed to waiting for a delivery). Oh yeah, buy a feeler gauge . . .

I think the Barley Crusher Grain Mill is still the best bang for the buck at, well at Northern Brewer anyways, about 10 bucks more than when I bought mine 2 years ago come July. It comes with everything pictured, unlike the expensive mills where everything comes separately. Here it is sittin atop my 5G Lowe's bucket, which seems to fit the base tighter than the orange Home Depot bucket.
